Bima Yojana: There are many insurance companies in the country, but their premium rates are out of the reach of the common man. Everyone wants to insure themselves and their family for a secure future.
Understanding this need, the government has launched Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), which is a boon for the people of the low-income group. This scheme provides accident insurance cover of up to ₹2 lakh at a nominal premium of just ₹20 per year.
Objective of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana
Middle-class families often do not have enough money for treatment in case of an accident, and there is also no immediate savings to run the family in case of the death of the head of the family. Keeping this problem in mind, the central government launched PMSBY. Under this scheme, accident insurance cover of ₹1 lakh to ₹2 lakh is provided. For this, it is necessary to have an auto-debit facility in your bank account, and the premium amount is deducted from your account before June 1.
Eligibility for Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana
- The applicant must be a citizen of India.
- Only backward-class or poor-class families can avail the benefits of this scheme.
- The applicant must have a bank savings account and an auto-debit facility should be started in the bank account.
- The age of the applicant should have been between 18 years and 70 years.
- If the applicant’s bank account is closed, the insurance policy will also be closed.

Offline application for Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana
Any economically weak person can avail of the benefits of PMSBY from any bank branch where he has a bank account.
Online Application for Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana
- To apply online, the candidate must first visit the official site https://www.jansuraksha.gov.in/.
- Go to the form option on the home page.
- As soon as you click, three options will open in front of you. First Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana, second Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, and third Atal Pension Yojana. Out of these, click on the option of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.
- Now the option of application form will come in front of you. On which you have to click. On selecting your language, the PDF of the application form will open.
- Download the form and fill in all the information asked in it properly. Such as name, address, mobile number, email ID, and Aadhaar number.
- Attach all the applicable required documents with the filled application form.
- Submit this form to the bank where you have an account. After this, your application will be completed.
Check the Application Status of Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana
- You can check the status of your application online. For this, you have to visit the official site https://www.jansuraksha.gov.in/.
- Click on the option to check the application status on the home page.
- A new link will open in which you have to enter the application number.
- After this, as soon as you click on the search button, the status of the application will appear in front of you.
