So far, 46 people have lost their lives in the flood disaster in Punjab. Along with this, 1.75 lakh hectares of standing crops have been destroyed by the flood. This has created a problem of food and fodder for the people. People around are engaged in helping the flood victims. PM Narendra Modi will also visit Punjab, where he will see the tragedy of the flood as well as meet the affected families.

When will PM Narendra Modi go to Punjab?

PM Narendra Modi himself will go to see the tragedy in Punjab. He will be on a tour of Punjab on September 9, where he will take stock of the damage caused by the flood and will also meet the victims and share his grief. An official informed that 46 people have died in Punjab due to floods. Crops have been destroyed on 1.75 lakh hectares of land, which is considered a big setback for the farmers.

Due to heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, the rivers flowing in Punjab, Ravi, Sutlej, and Beas are flowing above the danger mark. This has also increased the challenge for the NDRF and SDRF personnel. However, relief and rescue work are going on at the war level. According to the official, the water level of Pong Dam has decreased slightly to 1,394.19 feet on Saturday.

How many villages are submerged in water

Not only villages but some towns also came under the grip of floods in Punjab. According to a report, about 2000 villages in Punjab were submerged in water. State Finance Minister Harpreet Singh Cheem has called it the biggest disaster of five decades.

According to the latest report, more than 3.87 lakh citizens have been affected, including 46 deaths. Due to the high speed of the water, a 50-year-old man died after being swept away by the strong current in Tali Ghulam village of Ferozepur district.
