PM Kisan: The Indian government is continuously adopting new technologies to increase the income of the country’s food providers and protect them from middlemen. A major change has now come for the crores of farmers who receive ₹6,000 annually under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Under the central government’s AgriStack Project, it will now be mandatory for every farmer to have a unique Farmer ID (Farmer Identity Card).
Without this digital ID, upcoming installments of PM Kisan and benefits from other agricultural schemes may be blocked. This digital identity will not only prevent fraud but also ensure that government funds reach the rightful beneficiaries. In this special article, we will explain step-by-step how you can create your own Farmer ID.
What is this Farmer ID

Farmer ID is essentially a digital horoscope for farmers. It will provide all the information related to the farmer, big or small, in one place. This includes your land records (Khasra/Khatauni), the crops you grow, the fertilizers or seeds you use, the number of animals you own, and your total agricultural income—all of this data will be digitally stored. Based on this ID, the government will determine which farmer is truly entitled to which government assistance.
The biggest benefit of this ID will be that it will curb fake registrations and people repeatedly exploiting the same land. This transparent system will eliminate the role of middlemen. In the future, subsidies for seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and machinery will also be disbursed directly through this ID.
PM Kisan and Farmer ID
Now, installment payments under the PM Kisan Yojana will be directly linked to this farmer ID. The government aims to ensure complete digital data verification, eliminating the need for human intervention. Farmers with this ID will have their data automatically verified, ensuring timely installment payments without delays. If you haven’t created this ID yet, your next installment may be placed on the “Pending” list as the government is now updating the old database with this new digital system.
How to Create a Farmer ID Online
Creating your digital ID is now very easy. If you know how to use the internet, follow the steps below:
First, go to your state’s official AgriStack Portal.
Select the “Create New User” option and enter your Aadhaar number.
Verify your identity using the OTP received on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. Read the terms and conditions carefully and tick “I Agree.”
After verification, re-enter your mobile number and create a new password. This will be your user ID and password.
After logging in, select “Owner” under “Farmer Type” and enter your Khasra number. Clicking on ‘Fetch Land Detail’ will display the full details of your land. [Image showing the land verification screen on the AgriStack portal with Khasra and Khatauni details]
Go to the ‘Social Registry’ tab and enter your family ID or ration card information. Finally, digitally sign and apply.

Post-Registration Process
After completing the online application, your documents will be matched with the Revenue Department records. Once the verification is successful, your Kisan ID will be activated.
Offline Options
If you’re having trouble applying online, don’t worry. Special camps are being organized at the Panchayat level in many states. You can also seek assistance with your Kisan ID by contacting your nearest Public Service Center (CSC) or Lekhpal. Ensure that all documents and land information are accurate so that your application is not rejected during verification.
