PM Fasal Bima Scheme – The date for crop insurance in the Kharif season has been fixed. Farmers can register for crop insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana through bank, common service center or online portal www.pmfby.gov.in till July 31. Under the scheme, farmers will have to pay only two percent of the premium, the remaining amount will be paid by the central and state governments. Apart from this, it has been seen many times that due to weather conditions and other reasons, crops get damaged. Due to which farmers suffer huge losses. The Indian government has also made arrangements to protect farmers from this loss.

 

For this, the PM Fasal Bima Yojana is being run by the Government of India. Under this, if the crop is damaged, the farmers are given compensation by the government in the form of insurance. Let us tell you that the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is available only to those farmers who grow notified crops. These include rice, wheat, pulses, oilseeds and horticultural crops. The benefit of this insurance scheme is also available to land owners, tenant farmers and sharecroppers.

 

The cut-off date is the deadline for applying for the scheme. Usually it is July 31 for Kharif and December 31 for Rabi. If the farmer applies within two weeks of the start of the season, the insurance cover remains active for that season. Application for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana can be made online by visiting the official website pmfby.gov.in. Apart from this, offline process can be inquired from the district agriculture office.
