Pension Update- Good news for pensioners. On June 21, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced that the pension of social security pensioners would be increased from Rs 400 to Rs 1100. On 11 July, for the first time, the Chief Minister transferred the increased pension amount for the month of June directly to the bank accounts of the elderly, widows and disabled people through DBT. In this sequence, the pension amount for the month of July was transferred to the accounts of pensioners on 10 August.
This program was telecasted live. In Jehanabad district, the main program was organized in the Gram Place Auditorium located in the Collectorate. The program was presided over by District Officer Alankrita Pandey. Addressing the pensioners present on the occasion, the District Officer gave the message of the district administration’s commitment towards the Chief Minister’s aspiration of economic and social upliftment of the elderly, widows and disabled people.
Deputy Development Commissioner Dr. Preeti informed that in the district an amount of Rs 14 crore 99 lakh 78000 has been transferred to the accounts of pensioners through DBT, including Rs 37611400 for 34179 old people of Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension, Rs 5663600 for 5097 pensioners of Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension, Rs 292400 for 266 pensioners of Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension, Rs 69406900 for 62107 pensioners of Chief Minister Old Age Pension Scheme, Rs 18281300 for 16464 pensioners of State Laxmibai Social Security Pension Scheme, Rs 18722400 for 16931 pensioners of Bihar State Disability Pension Scheme, for a total of 135044 pensioners.
Vice President of District Program Implementation Committee Sagar Kumar alias Dilip Kushwaha and Ajay Kumar Dev were also present in the program. Apart from the main program venue at the district level, pensioners also became a part of this program through live broadcast in the block auditoriums under the chairmanship of Block Development Officers.
Apart from this, arrangements were also made at the Panchayat level to watch/listen to the live telecast at Panchayat Bhawan/Panchayat office and Anganwadi centres. On this occasion, the Chief Minister’s message was also read out among the pensioners.
