PAN Card 2.0: The Indian government launched PAN 2.0 in November last year. This might raise the question: why did PAN 2.0 come into being when a PAN card already existed, and what are the differences between the two? Before delving into the details, let’s broadly explain that PAN 2.0 not only improves security features compared to the old PAN card but also incorporates technology. Let’s then explain the differences between the old PAN card and PAN 2.0. We’ll also discuss the steps you can take to apply for a new PAN 2.0.

What is PAN 2.0?

On November 25th of last year, the government approved the PAN 2.0 project. You can also think of it as a digital upgrade to your PAN card. It brings many conveniences and new security features for taxpayers. It’s worth noting that PAN-related services are currently available on three portals, but with PAN 2.0, all services have been brought together on a single portal. This will make PAN creation, corrections, Aadhaar linking, and downloading e-PAN easier, making them paperless.

Benefits PAN 2.0

– Upgraded System: With PAN 2.0, the existing PAN system has been upgraded with advanced technology.

– QR Code: The new PAN card issued under PAN 2.0 will have a QR code. This will enable instant verification of the card holder’s details.

– Single Platform: With PAN 2.0, all services will be available on a unified digital portal.

– Paperless: With PAN 2.0, the entire process will become digital and there will be no need to print the card.

– Instant Generation: One advantage of PAN 2.0 is that e-PAN will be generated instantly and free of cost using Aadhaar.

Difference between old PAN card and PAN 2.0

Talking about the difference between the old PAN card and the new PAN 2.0, the most significant change is the dynamic QR code. This QR code will be on the new PAN cards. This will allow the cardholder’s identity and other details to be verified instantly. Furthermore, you will be able to avail all PAN-related services from a single portal. Furthermore, all PAN-related work will become paperless.
