The free update of identity and address-related documents in Aadhaar card has been extended till June 14, 2026. This can be done online only on the myAadhaar portal or mAadhaar app. After this date, this update will have to be done online for a fee of βΉ25 or at an Aadhaar center for a fee of βΉ50. This facility mainly helps in keeping your data accurate and availing services; except for address update, other updates (like name, date of birth, gender) may still incur charges. However, document upload is now free.
As per UIDAI rules, fingerprints and iris scans are not taken of children below the age of five. Biometric information is collected for the first time when the child completes the age of five. However, it is mandatory to update the biometrics again at the age of 15. Because at this age, the physical structure and biometric features of the child are fully developed. Therefore, it is very important to get the fingerprints, irises and photograph taken again.

As per UIDAI guidelines, this biometric update must be done between the ages of 15 and 17. If this is not done within the specified time, then one may face difficulties in availing Aadhaar related services in the future. There is also a possibility that Aadhaar will become invalid for KYC verification, government services or various online verifications.
