From December 1, 2025, the West Bengal government will launch a new unified e-challan system. This system will make action against traffic violators stricter. All challans, payments, NOCs, and pollution certificates will now be available online through a central portal called ‘Sangyog’. With this new system, people who break traffic rules will face quick and clear action. Everything will be digital and easy to check from one place.
About Sanyog Portal: West Bengal’s New Digital Traffic System
The ‘Sanyog’ Portal is a central digital platform created by the West Bengal Transport Department and the IT Department. From December 1, 2025, all traffic rule and challan-related work in the state will be done through this single online system.
How the New System Works
If anyone breaks traffic rules, a challan will be issued directly on the Sanyog portal.
Vehicle owners can pay the fine online through the GRIPS Payment Gateway anytime, without visiting any office.
Main Benefits of the New System
-
The entire process is paperless – challan issue, payment, and NOC are all online.
-
Online payment through GRIPS at any time.
-
NOC (No Objection Certificate) can be obtained online.
-
Pollution and fitness certificates will be given only if no challan is pending.
-
All vehicle owners must register on the portal to use its services.
What Has Changed in the New Rules
| Previous Rules | New Rules (from Dec 1, 2025) |

What the Government Has Ordered
The state government has directed the Kolkata Police, State Police, and the Transport Department to start the unified e-challan system from December 1, 2025.
What Officials Are Saying
In a meeting led by the Chief Secretary, officials said: “This digital system will make traffic control easier and more transparent. Action against violators will be faster and will help in revenue collection.”
Important Update: Pollution and Fitness Certificates
-
If any challan is pending, the Pollution Certificate (PUC) will not be issued.
-
Similarly, the Fitness Certificate will also be blocked until the challan is cleared.
-
No exemption will be given until all challans are settled.
