To strengthen cooking gas safety, oil companies have implemented a new rule. No gas pipe or regulator will be sold to any customer without a connection number. This rule has been implemented to ensure that companies maintain a complete record of customer pipe and regulator replacements. In the event of a future accident, this record will play a crucial role in advancing the compensation process.

According to the new system, gas agencies will record the details of pipes and regulators purchased against the customer’s connection number. This will provide the company with clear information about the last time a customer purchased a new pipe or regulator. In the future, based on this data, plans are underway to send reminder messages to customers’ registered mobile numbers, informing them of the need for timely pipe replacement.
Oil companies have also clarified that periodic inspection and replacement of cooking gas appliances is essential. Companies have already been urging customers to replace their gas pipes every five years. They say that replacing pipes on schedule significantly reduces the risk of gas leaks and improves safety. According to the company, the pipes available at agencies are stronger and more durable than conventional pipes and are manufactured with safety standards in mind.
Over the past few years, several accidents have occurred due to leaks in gas pipes, prompting oil companies to remain vigilant and continually advise customers to exercise caution. Biometric KYC has already been made mandatory to ensure accurate and up-to-date customer information.
Indian Oil Deputy General Manager Ravi Chanderia says that consumers should make it a habit to replace their gas pipes every five years. This not only improves safety but also significantly reduces the risk of accidents. He explained that company officials and distributors are constantly working to raise awareness among customers.
With the implementation of the new system, both safety and transparency related to cooking gas will increase, and consumers will also become more aware of their responsibilities.
