New Amrit Bharat Express Starts April 24, Know Route & Timing

Amrit Bharat Express: Great news for the many Pune folks who often head to Varanasi for work or to see Baba Vishwanath! You can now stop stressing about booking tickets and finding amenities months ahead of time. The Railways is rolling out the “Amrit Bharat Express,” a direct train service connecting Pune and Varanasi, starting April 24th.

If you think it’s just another train, think again! The ‘Amrit Bharat Express’ is seen as a budget-friendly version of the Vande Bharat Express. It provides fantastic amenities while keeping fares reasonable for everyone. With engines on both ends, this train can speed up and slow down quickly, cutting down travel time significantly. Plus, it features special ‘semi-permanent couplers’ that help avoid the jolts you often feel in older trains when they start or stop.

Pune to Varanasi: When, Where, and How?

As per the railway’s announcement, this train will kick off its regular service on April 24th. It will leave Pune Junction every Wednesday at 7:55 AM and reach Varanasi at 12:15 PM the following day. For the return trip, it will depart from Varanasi every Friday at 3:00 PM and get back to Pune on Saturday at 8:30 PM. After leaving Pune, the train will pass through Lonavala, Panvel, Kalyan, Igatpuri, Nashik Road, Manmad, Jalgaon, and Bhusaval, crossing into Maharashtra. It will then make stops at key stations in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, including Khandwa, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Katni, Satna, Prayagraj Chheoki, and Mirzapur, before finally arriving in Varanasi. The whole trip from Pune to Varanasi will take about 28.30 hours.

What’s the interior of this train like?

The Amrit Bharat Express has been crafted with the everyday traveler in mind. It will feature sleeper and general class coaches, but they’ll have a fresh and modern look. Its seats are more comfortable and cushioned than before. Mobile charging points will be available near each seat. It has been fitted with bio-toilets and modern fittings, which significantly improve hygiene. Special attention has also been given to small amenities like water bottle storage and folding tables for eating meals.
