MSY: The Mahila Samridhi Yojana is anticipated to be launched shortly in Delhi, with preparations already underway by the BJP government. On Saturday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta convened a meeting with officials to establish the terms and conditions necessary for the scheme’s implementation.
First installment of this yojana
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously announced during the election campaign that the first installment for the women of Delhi would be disbursed on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day. Chief Minister Gupta has reaffirmed this commitment in a recent interview.
Financial assistance of Rs 2500 per month
The BJP had included the initiation of the Mahila Samridhi Yojana in its manifesto for the Delhi assembly elections, promising financial assistance of Rs 2500 per month to underprivileged women upon forming the government. The specific rules and eligibility criteria for the scheme are still under consideration, and it remains to be determined who will qualify for the benefits. It is evident that families with stable financial conditions will be excluded from this initiative, which is aimed solely at supporting needy women.
For voters in Delhi facing financial hardships, it is advisable to take certain preparatory steps before the registration process begins. The financial assistance will be directly credited to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, making it essential to have an account in one’s name. Women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds who do not possess a bank account are encouraged to open one at any financial institution. Additionally, those who have not conducted transactions in their accounts for an extended period should verify that their accounts remain active.
KYC process
KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures can be completed by visiting the bank branch. It is also important to ensure that the personal mobile number linked to the bank account is current; if an outdated number is associated, it can be updated at the bank.
Furthermore, if the mobile number is not linked to the Aadhaar card or requires updating, this should be addressed promptly. While the scheme is designed for women from low-income families, the specific income threshold for eligibility has yet to be clarified.
