As per the rules of the Finance Department dated 5 October 1976, dearness relief will also be given to pensioners receiving family pension and extraordinary pension. This is a commendable step by the government that will support retired employees financially.

Who will not get dearness relief

However, if a person has been given a job on compassionate grounds due to the death of his or her spouse, then in such a situation, dearness relief will not be given on the family pension. But, if the spouse was in a job at the time of death, then dearness relief will be given on the family pension received by their spouse. This rule takes into account the special cases of compassionate appointment.

Strict instructions to pension disbursing officers

All pension disbursing officers of the Chhattisgarh government have been instructed to ensure prompt payment of approved dearness relief to the civil pensioners of the state, following the rules of the Madhya Pradesh Treasury Code 2020.

Along with this, the pension director has been instructed to conduct a sample check in the bank branches and, in case of any discrepancy, adjust it in the next month’s payment. The government wants to ensure that pensioners get their relief amount without any delay.
