Since March, approximately 650,000 new farmers have joined this scheme. This increasing number of farmers indicates their growing trust in the scheme. Through this portal, farmers enter their crop information online, making it easier to sell their produce at government rates. The government sends SMS messages to registered farmers on a rotational basis, calling them to the market at the appointed time. This not only reduces crowds but also maintains transparency. This system proved extremely effective for farmers during the COVID-19 lockdown.

This portal serves as a one-stop solution for farmers. Through it, farmers receive timely information and benefits from all government schemes related to agriculture. By joining the portal, farmers receive subsidies on fertilizers, seeds, loans, and agricultural equipment directly into their accounts. They also receive information on sowing and harvesting times, market information, and assistance during natural disasters.

Furthermore, farmers who do not burn stubble are also required to register on this portal. Only then are they eligible for financial assistance as determined by the Supreme Court.

Initiation and Objective of the Scheme

The ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ portal was launched on July 5, 2019, by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. The scheme aims to connect all farmers in the state on a digital platform and deliver the benefits of government schemes related to agriculture directly to them. The portal is fully linked to land records, ensuring accurate identification of farmers and accurate crop details.

Farmers enter information about the crops sown on their land online, and this data determines government procurement of their crops. This transparent process eliminates the role of middlemen, and farmers receive their dues directly.

How to Register on the Portal

Farmers need an Aadhaar card and mobile number to register on the portal. Crop-related updates are sent to the mobile number during registration. Additionally, for land information, the farmer must consult the revenue record or Khasra number and enter the correct information. The farmer must also enter the crop name, variety, and sowing time on the portal.

A copy of the bank passbook is required during registration so that funds from any scheme can be directly transferred to the farmer’s bank account. This makes the distribution of government subsidies and assistance funds completely digital and transparent.
