The Bihar government is working to increase farmers’ income and make farming profitable. Till now, many subsidy schemes have been started for different crops. But this time, the government has given priority to marigold flower farming to give farmers a new source of income. For this, the Marigold Development Scheme has been launched. Under this scheme, if farmers grow marigold, they will get a subsidy of 50% of the total cost. This means farmers can grow flowers at half the cost.
The special thing is that the government has not limited the scheme only to farming. It has also started a cargo vehicle scheme for easy sale of flowers. With this, farmers can take their flowers directly to the market and get better prices. Farmers can apply online to get the benefits of these schemes easily.
Government’s Focus on Marigold Cultivation
According to the Agriculture Department, farmers can get the benefit of this scheme on a minimum of 0.1 hectare and a maximum of 2 hectares of land. The government has fixed the cost of marigold farming at ₹80,000 per hectare. On this, farmers will get a subsidy of up to ₹40,000 per hectare. This will reduce the initial cost, and farmers can start marigold farming with confidence.
Only those farmers who have proper documents can get this benefit. They need to provide an LPC (land ownership certificate) and updated land receipt. Farmers without land can also apply with an akarnama (written agreement). If a farmer’s name is not in the land record, then they must attach a copy of their genealogy.
Cargo Vehicle Scheme for Easy Sale
One of the main problems for flower farmers is selling their crops in the market. Many farmers face losses due to transport issues. To solve this, the Bihar government has started a Cargo Vehicle Scheme. Under this, farmers will get a subsidy of up to 50% on the purchase of vehicles.
The government has fixed the vehicle cost at ₹6,50,000. Farmers will get a subsidy of up to ₹3,25,000 or 50% of the actual cost, whichever is less. For this, farmers need to upload documents like the vehicle quotation, land papers, and marigold farming agreement online. Without these, the application will not be accepted.
This scheme is a big opportunity for farmers. Marigold flowers are always in demand during weddings and events. With farming and transport support, farmers can earn a steady income and reduce their dependence on middlemen.
