LPG cylinder price: In light of the escalating effects of the West Asian crisis, the government declared a notable increase in the price of commercial cooking gas (LPG) cylinders on May 1st. Consequently, the cost of a 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has risen by Rs 993. The price for a 5-kilogram small cylinder has been raised from Rs 549 to Rs 810.50 each.
Following this unprecedented hike, there are numerous speculations regarding the pricing of domestic LPG cylinders. Although the price of domestic LPG cylinders has not changed this time, a 14-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder saw a Rs 60 increase in March. In this inflationary environment, we will guide you on how to buy an LPG cylinder at a Rs 300 discount.
Who will get Rs 300 cheaper cylinder?
Through the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PM-Ujjwala Yojana), customers are eligible for a ₹300 subsidy. The government has sanctioned a subsidy of Rs 300 for each 14.2 kg cylinder for up to nine refills annually (proportionately for those with 5 kg cylinders) for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).
Under this initiative, all PMUY beneficiaries can obtain an LPG connection without any upfront payment. This connection covers the security deposit (SD) for the cylinder, pressure regulator, safety hose, Domestic Gas Consumer Card (DGCC) booklet, and installation fees. According to the current Ujjwala 2.0 scheme, all beneficiaries also receive their first refill and stove at no cost. This implies that beneficiaries are not required to pay for the LPG connection, the initial refill, or the stove, as these expenses are covered by the Government of India/OMCs.

This follows previous increases of Rs195.50 per cylinder on April 1 and Rs 114.50 per cylinder on March 1. Overall, this results in a total price increase of Rs 1,303 over the past three months. Meanwhile, the price of a five-kilogram FTL (market-priced) LPG cylinder has been increased from Rs 549 to Rs 810.50 per cylinder. The price of a five-kilogram cylinder is now only slightly lower than the Rs 913 price of a 14.2-kilogram cooking gas cylinder (known as domestic LPG) used in household cooking.
