LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana – Good news for women. Earn up to Rs 7000 every month. A special scheme of the Central Government started to empower women is proving to be quite successful. More than 2 lakh women are earning money every month by joining the Bima Sakhi scheme.

Through this scheme of LIC, women are getting a golden opportunity to make a better career by becoming an insurance agent. According to the central government, 2.05 lakh women are taking advantage of this scheme launched on 9 December 2024.

Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary gave an update on the Bima Sakhi scheme in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha. He informed that Rs 62.36 crore was paid to Bima Sakhis in the financial year 2024-25. For the financial year 2025-26, LIC (Life Insurance Corporation of India) has kept a budget of Rs 520 crore, out of which Rs 115.13 crore has already been paid till July 14.

What is the insurance Sakhi scheme?

Under the Bima Sakhi Yojana, women who become LIC insurance agents not only get commission on getting policies, but also a stipend for the first three years. Rs 7000 is given every month in the first year, Rs 6000 in the second year and Rs 5000 in the third year.

Not only money but also a permanent job

Not only this, those Bima Sakhi who have completed graduation and have completed five years in the scheme can apply for the post of Apprentice Development Officer (ADO). Apart from this, women who are performing well are also given separate incentives. Bima Sakhi Yojana is an effort by the central government to increase the participation of women in the workforce and strengthen their economic condition.

Who can apply?

Bima Sakhi Yojana is also known as Bima Sakhi Scheme. Under this scheme, women between 18 and 70 years can apply. If someone is at least 10th pass, then they can join this scheme. Women selected for this scheme are given special training and allowance is also given every month for the first three years. With this, women are succeeding in becoming LIC agents.

However, those women who are already relatives of LIC agents or employees have been kept out of this scheme. Efforts are being made to keep the selection process of women in Bima Sakhi Yojana completely fair. LIC has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Rural Development to promote its ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ in rural areas.
