Laxmi Bhandar Scheme 2026: Laxmi Bhandar, West Bengal’s most trusted financial empowerment scheme for women, has become even more powerful. The state government has made a historic decision to increase monthly financial assistance to women through the interim budget for 2026-27. This move will directly benefit the 24.2 million women who rely on this scheme for their needs, both large and small.
What has changed?
In response to inflation, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has directly increased the scheme amount by Rs 500. This new rule will take effect in February 2026:
Women from the general category will now be given financial assistance of Rs 1500 every month.
The monthly assistance to women of Scheduled Caste/Tribe has now increased to Rs 1700.

Keep these key points in mind:
The age of the woman should be between 25 years to 60 years.
It is mandatory to have Swasthya Sathi Card and the applicant should be a citizen of West Bengal.
Families having government jobs or receiving pension have been excluded from this scheme so that the benefits reach only the needy.
How to apply?
You don’t need to go through any online hassle to get this government assistance:
Go to the Duare Sarkar Camp in your area and collect the application form.
You can also contact your nearest BDO (Rural) or SDO (Urban) office.
Fill the form carefully and provide Aadhar card and bank account details along with it.
Why is this step necessary?
The biggest advantage of this scheme is that the money is transferred directly to women’s personal bank accounts through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), without any intermediaries. This not only empowers women to become self-reliant, but also allows them to better invest in their children’s education and health.
