Maharashtra Women and Child Development Welfare Minister Aditi Thackeray has shared an update on social media account X. In which she emphasized the goal of the scheme to empower women economically and said that the total amount of the 8th and 9th installment of Ladli Behan Yojana of February and March, ₹ 3000, will be released by March 7, 2025. This timely action shows the government’s commitment to women.

₹ 1500 is available every month

Let us tell you that in the month of August last year, the Maharashtra government launched it to provide financial assistance every month to make women financially self-reliant and provide social security. Women between the ages of 21 and 65 in the state can avail this scheme, who are given financial assistance of ₹ 1500 every month. The government deposits this money in the bank account of the beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This scheme plays an important role in making women financially independent.

Mandatory eligibility criteria to avail of the scheme

  1. There are some criteria for the beneficiary to avail financial assistance every month under the Lakshmi Behan Yojana.
  2. The woman must be a resident of Maharashtra.
  3. Women get benefits including married, widowed, divorced, abandoned, or destitute women as well as unmarried women in the family.
  4. The age of the beneficiary should be between 21 and 65 years
  5. There should be a personal bank account linked to Aadhaar.
    The annual income of the beneficiary’s family should not exceed ₹2.50 lakh.

2.38 crore women benefited

Let us tell you that under this scheme, the Maharashtra government has transferred ₹17,505.90 crore to the bank accounts of 2.38 crore women beneficiaries by December 2024. This was stated in the government’s pre-budget economic survey presented in the assembly today i.e. on Friday. This figure shows the success and reach of the scheme.
