Jeevika Didi- Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had announced the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana to provide financial assistance to women to start their own businesses. The government has issued rules and guidelines for it. The guidelines of the Rural Development Department state that to avail the benefits of the CM Mahila Rojgar Yojana, women will have to join the Jeevika Self Help Group (SHG).
Women in Bihar are considered Nitish’s core voters. The group of Jeevika sisters is an important factor behind this, which has been greatly encouraged by the government. Under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, a provision has been made to provide financial assistance of Rs 10,000 initially to one woman from each family of the state to start employment and up to Rs 2 lakh after six months depending on the status of that employment.
On Friday (August 29), Nitish Kumar had given this information on social media. The cabinet had approved this scheme on the same day and said that it would be implemented from September. Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary had said that there are 2.70 crore families in the state and one woman from each of these families can avail the benefits of this scheme.
According to the guidelines issued for Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, it will be mandatory for women to join Jeevika Self Help Group to avail the benefits of the scheme. The Rural Development Department has said that all the members (one woman from one family) associated with Jeevika Group will be eligible for the benefits of the scheme. A woman will be given ten thousand rupees as the first installment to start the employment of her choice. After the women start employment, additional assistance of up to two lakh rupees will be given as per the requirement after assessing it.
