IRCTC Tatkal Ticket Booking Update 2025: Indian Railways has suddenly decided to make a big change in the way of booking Tatkal tickets, which is going to bring a big relief to the passengers. Now soon e-Aadhaar authentication will be made mandatory for Tatkal ticket booking. Its purpose is clear – to stop the black marketing of tickets and to get confirmed tickets to the real needy passengers at the right time. Giving information about this change, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that this new system will completely stop the fake activities in ticket booking.
Passengers lagging behind in the race for confirmed tickets
Every day about 2.25 lakh passengers try to book Tatkal tickets on the IRCTC website, but when ticket booking opens, they get filled in a few seconds. In such a situation, it becomes almost impossible for the real passengers to get tickets because some people book tickets before the real passengers through ticket bots and scripts. This causes disappointment among the passengers, especially those who want to book tickets at the last moment for the journey.
Out of 13 crore users, only 1.2 crore are linked to Aadhaar
IRCTC has more than 13 crore active accounts, but the railway investigation has revealed that only 1.2 crore users have linked their accounts to Aadhaar. The rest of the accounts have not been identified yet. The railway has considered those 20 lakh accounts suspicious which are being investigated. If such accounts are found to be fake, they will be deactivated immediately so that they cannot participate in ticket booking.
Link Aadhaar will get priority in ticket booking
The railway has made a plan, under which the passengers who link their IRCTC account to Aadhaar will get special priority in the first 10 minutes of Tatkal ticket booking. This means that as soon as the booking opens, the system will first verify their Aadhaar and only then they will be able to book tickets. This will close the shop of those who book tickets quickly with bots and scripts and real passengers will be able to get their entitled tickets easily.
