IRCTC AutoPay Feature: Good news for railway passengers. Often, when you try to book a train ticket, a significant issue can occur when the money is taken from your account, but the ticket isn’t confirmed. In such cases, you lose the seat, and the refund isn’t processed right away. However, many people are unaware that IRCTC offers a unique feature that enables you to quickly book a ticket using the deducted amount without needing to make another payment if the initial transaction fails.
This feature is known as the Resume Retry Booking feature, which allows you to complete the booking with the same deducted amount even if the payment was unsuccessful. This is particularly helpful when payments fail for various reasons, resulting in money being deducted from your account without the booking being completed. Remember, to utilize this feature, you must select IRCTC iPay on the payment gateway during the ticket booking process.
This not only accelerates your transaction but also ensures that in the event of a payment failure, you won’t have to spend additional money out of your own pocket.
What is the Resume Retry Booking feature?
It’s not uncommon for bookings on IRCTC to fail due to payment issues. The Resume Retry Booking feature is designed to tackle this challenge. Payment failures can often occur because of technical issues with the payment gateway or a bank server being down. Passengers then face the inconvenience of having to search for trains and re-enter passenger information, along with incurring extra costs.
The Resume Retry Booking feature prevents you from having to start the entire process over again and allows you to make payments from the same point. This not only saves time but also enhances your chances of securing a confirmed ticket for urgent travel.
Book tickets like this
When booking a ticket, select IRCTC iPay from the available options on the payment page. You can complete the payment using either a credit card, debit card, or UPI.
Now if the payment fails but the money is deducted from the bank account and the ticket is not booked, then click on the Resume/Retry option.
Since you have selected iPay, the IRCTC server will recognize that the money has already been deducted for this transaction ID.
In this case, the system will not ask you for payment again. It will simply link the old payment to this booking and your ticket will be generated.
Important things to keep in mind
This feature only works if you use the iPay gateway . With other bank aggregators, such as HDFC, ICICI, or Paytm Gateway, the money goes to the bank, which IRCTC can’t use immediately.
For this feature to work, the total amount of the new booking must be equal to the amount of the previous failed booking. If the amount fluctuates, this feature will not work.
If for some reason the ticket is not booked even after trying again, the money will be refunded to your account.
