On which routes will special trains run?

According to the railway’s schedule, additional trains will be running between major cities such as Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Santragachi. Special trains will operate weekly between CST Mumbai and both Hyderabad and Chennai, offering significant relief to travelers moving between West and South India.

Likewise, special trains are also running between Tambaram and Santragachi, ensuring essential connectivity for passengers in eastern and southern India. These trains serve routes that usually have long waiting lists.

When will you get the benefit?

This railway initiative will benefit passengers from April to July 2026. Different dates have been allocated for various trains, but overall, it encompasses the entire peak summer season. This means that travelers won’t have to struggle to find tickets during school holidays and the busy travel season.

How often will the trains run?

These special trains will operate in fixed numbers for a limited duration. For instance, around 12 services will be available on the Mumbai-Hyderabad route, while eight trips are planned for the Mumbai-Chennai route. Additionally, three services each are scheduled on the Tambaram-Santragachi route. This clearly shows that the Railways has tailored its capacity to meet demand.

At which stations will it stop?

These trains on the Mumbai-Hyderabad and Mumbai-Chennai routes will stop at major stations such as Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, Pune, and Solapur. The Tambaram-Santragachi train will cover major junctions such as Chennai, Vijayawada, Bhubaneswar, and Kharagpur. This will also directly benefit passengers in smaller cities, as they will no longer have to rely on connecting trains.

What is special for the passengers?

These special trains offer different classes for passenger convenience. The Mumbai-Hyderabad and Mumbai-Chennai routes include 1AC, 2AC, 3AC, Sleeper, and General coaches. The Tambaram-Santragachi train also offers Sleeper class. This will provide options for travelers with all budgets, making this initiative even more valuable.
