DigiLocker: In the digital age, most important documents, such as voter ID cards, are now readily available on online platforms. One such service is DigiLocker, a digital service from the Government of India. This platform allows citizens to securely store and access their important documents digitally.
Steps to download Voter ID card from DigiLocker
- If you do not already have an account on DigiLocker, first go to https://digilocker.gov.in/ and create a new account with your mobile number.
- After entering your mobile number, you will receive an OTP (One Time Password). Enter the OTP to verify your number.
- Once the mobile number is verified, set up the account by entering your name, date of birth and (if desired) Aadhaar number.
- Go to the “Issued Documents” section.
- Once your account is created, log in to DigiLocker.
- Click on the “Issued Documents” section in the menu on the left.
- Select “Election Commission of India.”
- The “Issued Documents” section will list several government departments.
- Select “Election Commission of India.”
- After selecting the commission, your digital Voter ID card will appear. Click on it.
- Some states may require you to verify your details before viewing your Voter ID card. If so, verify your details according to the on-screen instructions.
- After verifying the information, click on “Download” or “Save” button and save your digital Voter ID card to your device.
- Once downloaded, your Voter ID card will always be available in your DigiLocker account. You can view, print, or share it at any time.
- Use a strong password to protect your account and if possible, also enable Two-Factor
- Authentication to ensure that no unauthorized person can access your documents.
