The Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) is a well-known savings program overseen by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) under the Government of India. Both employees and employers contribute equally to this fund, commonly known as PF. This fund plays a crucial role for employees, as it can be accessed after retirement or when switching jobs. Unfortunately, there are instances where employers neglect to deposit their portion into the employee’s PF account. To ensure your contributions are being credited, you can check your PF balance through four different methods: the UMANG App, the EPFO website, a missed call service, and SMS.

Check PF balance using the Umang app

To check your balance via the Umang app, start by downloading the app and logging in. Type “EPFO” in the search bar and select “View Passbook.” Enter your UAN number and password, and an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. After verification, you can view your PF balance by accessing your passbook.

Check dues through the EPFO website

Go to the official EPFO website and navigate to the “For Employees” section. Click on “Services,” then select “Know Your EPF Account Balance.” Input your UAN number, password, and captcha code, then click “Sign In.” Choose “Passbook” to see your balance and select your PF account.

EPFO provides a convenient missed call service for checking your PF balance. Simply dial 011-22901406 from your registered mobile number. After the call is automatically disconnected, you will receive a text message with details about your PF account balance.

Additionally, you can verify your PF balance through SMS. Just send a message to 7738299899 from your registered mobile number. For information in Hindi, type “EPFO UAN HIN,” or use “ENG” for English. Your complete message should read: “EPFOHO UAN HIN” or “EPFOHO UAN ENG.”
