UAN Active Process – EPFO i.e. Employee Provident Fund Organization has made its digital services more easy and secure. Now employed employees will be able to generate and activate their UAN (Universal Account Number) themselves through Face Authentication Technology.

This technology is completely digital and contactless, which will benefit crores of employees. Now employees can create UAN themselves through the Umang app and that too with face authentication technology. Neither the employer will be needed in this process, nor will there be any paperwork hassle.

How to activate UAN?

  •  Visit the official website of EPFO, epfindia.gov.in.
  •  Go to “Important Links” section and click on “Activate UAN”.
  •  Enter your UAN number, Aadhaar number, full name, date of birth and mobile number linked with Aadhaar.
  • Agree to OTP verification.
  • Click on “Get PIN” button and you will get OTP on your mobile.
  • Activate UAN by entering OTP. Now your account is ready for online services of EPFO.

How to generate and activate UAN by UMANG App?

  1. Download UMANG App and AadhaarFaceRD App from Google Play Store.
  2. Open the UMANG app and go to ‘UAN Allotment and Activation’ service.
  3. Enter Aadhaar number and mobile number linked with Aadhaar.
  4. Verify through OTP.
  5. Live face scan using app’s camera – it matches with Aadhaar database.
  6. After successful verification, UAN will be sent through SMS.
  7. UAN will be automatically activated and e-UAN card can be downloaded from UMANG app or EPFO ​​portal.

 

This new feature claims to provide a completely digital, contactless and secure experience. With this, EPFO ​​members will now be able to generate UAN on their own without depending on the employer, which will also reduce the chances of errors in the data.
