Big update for Aadhaar Card holders. Buying a SIM card using your Aadhaar card has changed a lot, so it’s super important to keep your info secure. If you have more active SIM cards than your Aadhaar allows, it could lead to some issues.
SIM card limits with Aadhaar
You can have a maximum of 9 SIM cards linked to one Aadhaar card, but in certain areas, that limit drops to 6. If there’s a SIM card associated with your Aadhaar that you didn’t get yourself, it could create serious problems. 1. First, go to https://www.sancharsaathi.gov.in/.

2. Click on Citizen Centric Services.
3. Then select Know Mobile Connections (TAFCOP).
4. A new page will pop up where you need to enter your mobile number and log in using an OTP.
5. Once verified, you’ll see all the active SIM cards connected to your Aadhaar.
6. If you spot a number that doesn’t belong to you, click on Not My Number to report it and get it blocked.
New rules and penalties
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has rolled out stricter rules for buying SIM cards. If a fake SIM card is found under your name and is used for illegal activities, you could be held accountable and face a ban of up to 3 years. There could also be fines and other penalties involved.
