New Delhi: Aadhar cardholders are also facing the threat of cyber fraud, for which protection is needed. Many such cases have come to light when someone else has taken a loan on your Aadhar card, without even getting a clue. People are taking out fake loans by misusing Aadhaar cards, which directly cheats them.
If this happened to you too, then you need to be careful in future. Has anyone taken a loan on your Aadhar card in a fake way? Sometimes you only find out after receiving a notice from the bank. Therefore, you can easily obtain the loan information on your Aadhaar card. Aadhaar cardholders need to be cautious, as there will be a significant loss otherwise.
Has a loan been taken out on another Aadhaar card?
You can easily check whether you have taken a loan on your Aadhaar card or not. The first step is to check the CIBIL report. You can download your credit score and report from CIBIL or credit bureaus such as Experian, CRIF High Mark, or Equifax. Steps in this: Go to www.cibil.com, and you will need to sign up for a free CIBIL report.
You will need to log in with your Aadhaar or PAN. Then, review your entire loan history. If you are aware of any loans that you have not yet taken out, you should be alert immediately. This will not cause any problem.
How can fraud happen without OTP?
If any transaction is done related to the Aadhaar card, a message is received via OTP. Aadhaar is based on biometric authentication. Often, people use data to obtain loans fraudulently. Usually, our fingerprints are stored at cyber cafes or local centres. With this, fake loans are processed. Therefore, the security of the Aadhaar card is critical.
How to protect Aadhaar card data
According to the UIDAI website, the Biometric Lock/Unlock option must be enabled. Aadhaar data must be updated every six months. Never give a copy of your Aadhaar to any stranger. Only the Masked Aadhaar number needs to be used. If your Aadhaar card is misused for any reason, you will need to contact UIDAI’s helpline. You will need to report the issue to cybercrime.gov.in. Additionally, you can visit your nearest police police and register an FIR.
