Cashless Treatment- Central Government makes an big announcement. Taking a historic decision, the Government of India has launched the Cashless Treatment Scheme 2025 , which has been implemented across the country from 5 May 2025. The objective of this scheme is to provide immediate and better treatment to people injured in road accidents, so that their lives can be saved. Let us know its details in detail.

What is this plan?

If a person is a victim of a road accident, he will get free treatment up to Rs 1.5 lakh. This treatment can be done cashless i.e. without paying any money in any designated hospital for the first 7 days. This means that you will neither have to take out money from your pocket nor worry about any insurance or documents.

Who will be covered under this scheme?

Any person who is a victim of a road accident will be covered under this scheme. This scheme is applicable all over India irrespective of the state or city in which the accident took place.

Where will I get treatment?

Treatment will be completely cashless only in designated hospitals i.e. hospitals selected by the government. If you go to any other hospital, you will only get initial treatment (stabilization) there, until you are shifted to a designated hospital. The National Health Authority (NHA) is implementing the scheme. In the states, this work is being looked after by the State Road Safety Council and State Health Agencies. An 11-member committee has been formed to monitor the entire system, which will be headed by the Road Secretary.

Why was this plan necessary?

Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that in 2023, 4.80 lakh road accidents occurred in India, in which 1.72 lakh people lost their lives. Many of these deaths occurred due to lack of timely treatment. Through this scheme, the government wants to ensure that no injured person is deprived of treatment.

Getting timely treatment will reduce deaths in accidents. The poor or common man will get treatment without worrying about the bill. The treatment process in hospitals will be easy and fast. If you or someone you know is a victim of a road accident, do not panic. Take them to the nearest government listed hospital immediately. There, treatment up to Rs 1.5 lakh will be provided free of cost for 7 days.
