Under EPS-95, there are many employees who are given Rs 1500 as a monthly pension. Whereas the number of employees getting more than Rs 6,000 is very less. On Thursday, the central government shared important things related to EPS in Parliament.

According to the data of the year 2025, every second pensioner is given less than Rs 1,500 per month under the Employees’ Pension Scheme 1995, administered by the retirement fund body EPFO. These figures may be shocking for you.

How many pensioners get a pension of more than Rs 6000

According to official data of the Central Government, out of a total of 81,48,490 pensioners under this scheme, only 53,541 pensioners or 0.65 per cent get a monthly pension of more than Rs 6,000 till March 31, 2025.

At the same time, the data has come in the wake of the trade unions’ demand for a minimum monthly pension of Rs 9000 under EPS-95. This was part of a 17-point demand letter submitted to the Ministry of Labour and Employment. Currently, the minimum pension amount under EPS is Rs 1,000 per month. Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaj told the House that as of March 31, 2025, the total number of pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme was 81,48,490.

How many pensioners get less than 1500?

The Minister of State fLabourbor and Employment told the House that the number of pensioners receiving a monthly pension of less than Rs 1,500 as on March 31, 2025, was 49,15,416. Thus, almost every second person or more than half of the pensioners were taking advantage of a monthly pension of less than Rs 1,500.

He said that the number of pensioners receiving a monthly pension of less than Rs 4,000 as on March 31, 2025, was 78,69,560. The number of pensioners receiving a pension of less than Rs 6,000 per month as on March 31, 2025, was 80,94,949. At the same time, the total number of monthly pensioners of more than Rs 6,000 is 53,541.
