Great news for the Multi Purpose Workers (MPW) in Jharkhand’s Health Department! The Hemant Soren government has significantly raised their honorarium. Starting from September 2024, these workers will see a boost in their pay, and they’ll also receive back pay from September 2024 to February 2025. Over 1,500 employees will benefit from this change.

Last September, the Jharkhand Health Directorate announced a pay increase for MPWs, raising their honorarium from Rs 3,200 to Rs 4,400. Now, the official orders have been issued, meaning MPWs will earn between Rs 30,100 and Rs 30,300, up from Rs 26,000. Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari mentioned that this announcement will make Holi and Ramadan even more joyful.

Here’s how the salary increases break down: MPWs in East Singhbhum and Bokaro will receive Rs 31,300, while those in the other 20 districts will get Rs 30,100 monthly. Just last December, their salary was raised by Rs 5,584, going from Rs 21,316 to Rs 26,900.

MPW workers are thrilled with the government’s decision, as they’ve been advocating for a pay increase for quite some time. In gratitude, they plan to honor the Chief Minister, Health Minister, and departmental officials. It’s worth noting that besides collecting samples for malaria control, these multipurpose workers contribute to various other health initiatives.

The pay for cooks is set to go up. The state government has announced a raise in the honorarium for cooks. During the assembly budget session, Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu shared that the previous amount of Rs 2000 has now been bumped up to Rs 3000. Previously, the cooks received Rs 600 from the Center and Rs 1400 from the state. Now, the Hemant Soren government has decided to increase the total to Rs 3000.
