Gold and silver prices fell sharply ahead of Valentine’s Day. Gold and silver prices in the Indian market fell sharply from the US. Silver prices in the US market fell by about 9% and gold prices by more than 2%. However, gold and silver prices have been increasing since the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) opened on February 13, 2026. However, the prices of 22-carat jewelry gold and 24-carat pure gold in Kolkata have fallen significantly today.

On Thursday, the price of gold for April futures on the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) fell from Rs 6,400 to Rs 1.52 lakh. The price of silver also fell by Rs 26,000 last night, due to which the price of one kg of silver in the futures market stood at Rs 2.37 lakh.

At 10:30 am, the price of silver for March futures on MCX increased by Rs 6,196 to Rs 2,42,599. Meanwhile, the price of gold for April futures increased by Rs 1,464 to Rs 1.54 lakh. This increase in gold and silver prices follows a significant decline a day earlier.

The price of 22-carat jewelry gold is today at Rs 14,280 per gram. Along with this, the price of 24-carat is Rs 15,578. It has decreased by Rs 2,000 per gram from yesterday. Today, the price of silver in Kolkata is Rs 2,80,000.

On January 29, 2026, gold prices were at Rs 1.93 lakh and silver prices were at Rs 4.20 lakh, which are their record highs. On Friday, gold prices fell by Rs 1.54 lakh, while silver prices fell by Rs 2.42 lakh. This means that gold prices fell by Rs 40,000 and silver prices by Rs 1.82 lakh.

Gold and silver prices fell in the international market. In the US (COMEX/Spot), gold prices fell by about 2.3–2.8% to around $ 4,980– $ 4,940 per ounce and silver prices fell by about 8.8% to $ 75– $ 76.
