Thinking of the residents of Bengal, the state government has launched several social projects under the initiative of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Many of these projects are very popular. However, there are several public welfare projects that the people of the state are not yet aware of. These projects, though lesser known, are highly effective during times of crisis.
The state government has recently taken a special initiative to inform residents about these projects. Today, we will discuss one of these lesser-known projects. Through this project, you can easily receive Rs. 2000 in cash during times of danger.
The state government sends money for almost all its schemes directly to the bank accounts of customers or beneficiaries. However, the scheme we are going to discuss today doesn’t transfer money to bank accounts. Instead, the government provides cash. Many people may not have heard of the state government’s Samabyathi Prakalpa scheme. But if a close family member passes away, this scheme can be very helpful in times of distress.
About the Samabyathi Prakalpa Scheme
Under the Samabyathi Prakalpa scheme, the West Bengal government provides financial assistance of Rs. 2000 to the family members for the funeral of a deceased person. While some may criticize the amount, for those who lack financial resources, Rs. 2000 can be quite significant to cover funeral expenses according to all religious customs during such a difficult time.
However, many people are unaware of this scheme and thus miss out on its benefits. The Samabyathi Prakalpa scheme was launched in 2016. Despite the success of other state schemes, the number of beneficiaries for this scheme has been relatively low over the past seven years. To address this, the state government is now taking steps to increase awareness about this valuable scheme.
Who is Eligible for the Samabyathi Scheme?
Eligibility for Financial Aid: If someone passes away, their close relatives can receive a grant of Rs. 2000 under this scheme. The deceased must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
Targeted Beneficiaries: The financial aid is not available to everyone. The Samabyathi Prakalpa scheme is mainly aimed at marginalized and economically weaker sections of society. Only those from financially poor and backward communities are eligible for this support.
Who Receives the Aid: The Rs. 2000 grant is given to the close relatives of the deceased, as well as to their neighbors.
How to Apply for the Samabyathi Scheme?
Since the Samabyathi scheme does not transfer money to bank accounts, the application process is quite simple. If someone passes away, their relatives need to apply for the scheme by submitting an application on plain paper to the BDO (Block Development Officer) of the concerned area. The application must be delivered in person to the BDO’s office.
Along with the application, the following documents must be submitted:
The deceased person’s Aadhaar card and birth certificate (if available) to prove that they were a permanent resident of West Bengal.
Once the application is submitted, government officials will review the documents. After verifying the details, the family will receive the Rs. 2000 assistance within a short period.
