If you are also one of those crores of families who take advantage of the government’s free ration scheme, then this news is essential for you. Now, the government has made it mandatory to complete e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) on the ration card to receive free ration. If you do not get this work done within the stipulated time, then your ration card may be closed, and the benefits you get will stop. Let us know what e-KYC is, how it is done, and what its last date is.

Why is e-KYC necessary for a ration card?

Ration Card Update

The government has taken this step under the National Food Security Act to ensure that the benefits of free ration reach only eligible and needy people. Through e-KYC, the government is removing fake beneficiaries. This will make the grains reach those who are actually entitled to them. For this process, it is necessary to get e-KYC done for all those members of your family who are more than 5 years of age.

Process to do e-KYC

Getting e-KYC done in your ration card is a very easy process, which you can do from home:

First of all, go to the PDS (Public Distribution System) portal of your state government.

On the homepage, you will see ‘Ration Card Services’, ‘E-Services’, or any other similar option.

Click on the option of e-KYC and enter your ration card number.

Now enter your Aadhaar number. An OTP (One-Time Password) will come to your mobile number registered in Aadhaar.

After entering the OTP, your ration card will be verified with Aadhaar, and the process of e-KYC will be completed.

After the completion of this process, your ration card will remain active and you will continue to get free ration without any interruption.
