A big relief for the common man before Holi. The government has announced to provide free LPG gas cylinders to reduce the pressure of extra cooking expenses during the festive season. And this initiative will directly benefit poor and economically weaker families. The question arises, which state will get this facility and who will get it, how will it be available? Read the report to know more.
Free gas cylinders of the state government
Actually, this important decision has been taken by the Delhi government. Recently, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta approved this project in the cabinet meeting. The government has said that one free gas cylinder will be given to each eligible family during the two big festivals of Holi and Diwali. A total budget of Rs 300 crore has been allocated for the implementation of this project.
In fact, this step of the Delhi government is considered to be a part of the BJP election promise. The government is making this promise on the occasion of the first year of coming to power. According to the government, the cost of cooking during the festive season puts the most pressure on poor families. Even before this, it has been decided to provide free cylinders in the first phase, so that preparations for the festival can be made more easily.

Who will get this benefit?
Actually, this scheme is for the economically weaker sections of the people. Especially, all the families who have valid ration cards and are registered under the Public Distribution System and fall under the category of poor and lower-income families will get the benefit of this scheme. However, according to government sources, there is no need to apply separately for this scheme. All the families whose information is registered in the ration card system will automatically get free gas cylinder subsidy.
Yes, you read it right. Instead of delivering the cylinders directly to the homes, the Delhi government has opted for the DBT system. And during Holi and Diwali, the equivalent amount of money per cylinder, i.e. approximately Rs. 850, will be sent directly to the bank accounts of the eligible beneficiaries linked to their Aadhaar cards. And after receiving this money, the cylinders can be easily purchased from the gas distributor.
