If you are also thinking of withdrawing money from your Employee Provident Fund (EPF) account, then this news is no less than a big relief for you. Now you will not need to submit a lot of documents to withdraw money from the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO)! The central government has given clear information in Parliament that this rule is already in force, and it has been made simpler. This change has brought a big facility for crores of EPF members.

Now, only self-declaration is enough

In response to a question asked in Parliament, the Ministry of Labor and Employment clarified that if EPFO members want to withdraw money for needs like education, marriage, buying a house, illness, or any emergency, then they will no longer need to submit any kind of document. Now, money can be withdrawn only based on self-declaration.

Lok Sabha MPs Vijaykumar Vijay Vasant, Manickam Tagore B, and Suresh Kumar Shetkar had raised the question of why EPFO has started relying only on self-declaration for partial withdrawal of employees. To this, the government replied that this step has been taken to make the process easy, transparent, and reliable.

This facility was started in 2017

The government said that this important change was implemented through the Composite Claim Form introduced in 2017. Under this form, EPFO greatly simplified the process of partial and final withdrawal and started relying on self-declaration of members, eliminating the need for documents. This was a big step towards providing more convenience to its members by EPFO.

Bank-related problems were also resolved

It often happened that the claims of the members were rejected just because they uploaded poor-quality photos of their bank passbook or check. Now this problem has also been resolved. The requirement to upload images of checks or passbooks has been removed as of April 3, 2025. This change has reduced the problems related to KYC or bank account verification to a great extent, making the claim process even smoother for the members. This is another important step towards Digital India.

Crores of people benefited

The government said that as of July 22, 2025, more than 1.9 crore EPF members have benefited from this new and simple process. This change is an important step towards making the EPFO claim process simple and reliable. This shows that the government is committed to making services more accessible and hassle-free for its citizens.
