EPFO Interest Rate 2025-26: If you are employed and your PF amount is deducted from your salary every month, this information is beneficial for you. Provident Fund (PF) is a savings scheme that can grow into a substantial fund over time. However, many employees fail to see how much money is deposited in their PF account and how much interest is being earned on it each year. The good news is that you can now easily check your PF balance and interest earned on it in just one minute, from the comfort of your own home.
There are also indications from the government that an increase in the PF interest rate may be considered in the new financial year. If this happens, it will directly benefit millions of employees and strengthen their savings.

How much interest is being earned on PF?
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has fixed the interest rate on PF at 8.25% for the financial year 2024-25. This rate remains the same as last year. The interest earned on all deposits made in your PF account throughout the year is added at the end of the financial year. The decision on the interest rate for the upcoming financial year is usually taken at an EPFO meeting, which is likely to take place around February next year.
Salary Limit for PF Account
Currently, under the PF scheme, employees with a basic salary and DA of up to Rs 15,000 must join the PF. The government is also considering increasing this salary limit so that more employees can receive better pension and retirement benefits in the future.
How PF is deducted from salary
PF is deducted from salary as per a fixed rule. 12% of an employee’s basic salary and DA is deposited into their PF account every month. The employer, i.e., the company, also contributes an equal amount. A portion of the company’s contribution goes to the Employees’ Pension Scheme, while the remaining amount is added to the PF account.
