EPFO has again extended the deadline to activate UAN and link bank accounts with Aadhaar for the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI). Its last date is now 30 June 2025. This deadline has been extended many times before! If you have not done this work yet, then do not delay. Activate your UAN immediately and link your Aadhaar to your bank, so that your PF money is not stuck and you can enjoy all the benefits.
What is UAN
UAN i.e. ‘Universal Account Number’ is a 12-digit number issued by EPFO to salaried people. UAN is issued to an employee only once. No matter how many organizations change, UAN never changes. It allows employees to access and track their Provident Fund. It is an important means of financial transparency and control.
How to activate UAN
According to PIB (Press Information Bureau), employees can activate their UAN through Aadhaar-based OTP. Here are some important steps to activate your UAN:
Visit the EPFO member portal.
Click on the “Activate UAN” link under “Important Links”.
Enter UAN, Aadhaar number, name, date of birth (DOB), and mobile number linked with Aadhaar.
Click on Agree for Aadhaar OTP verification.
Click on “Get Authorization PIN” to receive OTP on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
Enter the OTP to complete the activation. Once the UAN is activated, a password will be sent to your registered mobile number. It is a secure and seamless process.
Why UAN activation is mandatory
Once the UAN is activated, employees can easily access EPFO online services, including:
PF account management.
Viewing and downloading the PF passbook.
Submitting online claims for advance, withdrawal, or transfer.
Updating personal information.
