E-Arrival Card: Big news for everyone. The airport entry procedure in India has transitioned to a fully digital format. Starting from April 1, 2026, foreign nationals and OCI cardholders arriving in India will be required to use a digital E-Arrival Card. This is a straightforward online form that will take the place of the paper forms that were previously completed on the plane or at the airport. The new system aims to streamline the airport entry process, reducing the need for passengers to stand in long queues. In this regard, let’s delve into what the E-Arrival Card entails and who is obligated to use it. We will also discuss the information needed for this card…
What is the E-Arrival Card?
Previously, passengers had to fill out a Disembarkation Card (Form D) during their flight before entering India. This will now be substituted with the e-Arrival Card, which is a digital equivalent of the Disembarkation Card (Form D). You can fill out this form online via your mobile device or computer. Once you submit the form, you will receive a QR code.
Upon your arrival in India, immigration officials will scan this QR code to facilitate a quicker process. Keep in mind that you can complete the form up to 72 hours prior to your flight. This requirement will be enforced starting April 1, 2026, after which physical forms will no longer be accepted.
Who is required to complete the E-Arrival Card?
The E-Arrival Card is compulsory for all individuals. Indian citizens are exempt from filling out this form. However, it is mandatory for foreign nationals and OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) cardholders. This includes tourists, students, and business travelers entering India, meaning anyone arriving from overseas. The positive aspect is that this will greatly ease the process for those traveling in groups. In fact, one individual can complete the form for up to five family members simultaneously. Additionally, this approach is efficient and convenient for those traveling with children or relatives.
