Income Tax Website: The Income Tax Department is consistently implementing significant changes to enhance the experience for taxpayers during tax filing. As part of this effort, the Income Tax Department has introduced a new AI portal named ‘Kar Saathi’ that is technology-driven for taxpayers.
In a post on the social media platform X, the Income Tax Department announced that all tax-related information will now be accessible in one place. Previously, taxpayers often needed to consult CAs to grasp minor regulations, but now this AI assistant is available to address all your queries around the clock. This chatbot will not only make navigation easier but will also be beneficial for those filing returns for the first time.
CBDT reduces the number of forms by half
Recently, the Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Ravi Agarwal, unveiled a new initiative called ‘PRARAMBH’. This initiative marks a significant advancement towards the effective implementation of the new Income Tax Act, 2025. With this reform, the department has significantly cut down the number of rules and forms. Chairman Ravi Agarwal stated, “The number of rules has been decreased from 510 to just 333. Consequently, 399 forms have been reduced to 52,190. This simplification will directly benefit taxpayers involved in over 6 crore transactions, relieving them of unnecessary compliance.”
People are giving their reactions on social media
In response to the government’s launch of this AI chatbot portal, social media has started to react. Users have welcomed the change, but they have also voiced some concerns. It is often noted that during the busy return filing season, the portal experiences increased traffic, which can slow down the site. One user highlighted this issue and expressed hope that this time, the stability will not just be superficial.
