While in the past, even obtaining a learner’s license required a full day at the office. Now, according to new regulations, if your Aadhaar card is linked to your current mobile number, you can complete your e-KYC from the comfort of your home.

To do this, you need to visit the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ official website, sarathi.parivahan.gov.in. After selecting your state, click on the ‘Apply for a New Learner’s License’ option. This facility is a boon for young people and working professionals who don’t have time to run around offices.

Complete Process of Obtaining a Driving License

Whether you’re driving your first motorcycle or a shiny new car, the path to obtaining a license begins with a learner’s license. To apply, you need to pay a fee of approximately 150 to 250 rupees online (this amount may vary slightly from state to state).

Once your learner’s license is issued, it is valid for 6 months. According to the rules, you are eligible to apply for a permanent driving license (DL) exactly 30 days after receiving your learning license and within 6 months.

How to take the online test from home

The online test for a learning license is now completely transparent and simple. Instead of visiting the RTO, you simply take the test from the comfort of your home, using your computer or smartphone. This test consists of 15 questions primarily related to traffic signs, basic road safety rules, and safety precautions to take in case of an accident.

To pass the test, you must answer at least 9 questions correctly. Once you pass the test, you can immediately download your learning license in PDF format.
