Fastag KYV Process: If you own a four-wheeler, this news may be important for you. To promote digital payments at highway toll plazas across the country, NHAI has implemented a new process related to FASTag. The government has made Know Your Vehicle (KYV) verification mandatory for all FASTag users. KYV verification is mandatory by October 31st, or you may face significant inconvenience. This system aims to make the digital toll system more transparent and secure.

KYV Verification Through an App

If your FASTag hasn’t been verified yet, you can easily update it through your bank’s website or mobile app. Click on the Know Your Vehicle or Update KYV option. Then, upload the required documents, such as the vehicle’s registration certificate and identity card, and complete the OTP verification. Once this process is complete, your FASTag status will display as “Active and Verified.”

What happens if KYV is not completed?

If a vehicle owner fails to complete their KYV, their FASTag will be automatically deactivated, even if there is a balance. Recently, several cases have been reported where vehicles have been stopped at toll plazas due to incomplete verification, causing inconvenience to commuters. Regarding this, the government has clarified that FASTags cannot be used without KYV verification.

Government’s Objectives for This Process

The government states that KYV verification will bring transparency to the toll system and prevent fake or duplicate FASTags. It will also make it easier to track records of stolen or sold vehicles. Once verification is complete, it will remain valid until the vehicle’s ownership changes. If the vehicle is sold or a new registration number is issued, the KYV process will need to be repeated.

Timely Verification is Important

If the KYV process is not completed on time, toll payments may be difficult. In such a situation, vehicle owners will have to pay in cash. Therefore, it is recommended that they complete the KYV process related to FASTag promptly to avoid any problems during their travel.
