FASTag Update: The government launched the FASTag annual pass to provide relief to national highway travelers, and it has received an overwhelming response. In just six months, more than 5 million people have used this pass. During this period, approximately 265.5 million toll transactions have been recorded using the FASTag annual pass. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, approximately 28% of all car transactions on national highways are now made using the FASTag annual pass. This clearly demonstrates the rapid adoption of this pass by highway travelers.
The FASTag annual pass costs ₹3,000, covering 200 toll crossings. Consequently, the cost of crossing a toll is only ₹15, resulting in significant savings on toll tax.

Annual Passes in Use in These States
By state, Chandigarh leads the use of annual passes, accounting for 14% of total transactions. Tamil Nadu (12.3%) and Delhi (11.5%) followed in second and third place, respectively.
In Delhi-NCR, the Bijwasan toll plaza saw the highest usage of annual passes, with approximately 57% of cars crossing through this pass. At the Mundka toll plaza and the Jhinjholi toll plaza in Sonipat, approximately 53% of non-commercial vehicle crossings were also done using annual passes.
The Ministry stated that this annual pass is valid at approximately 1,150 toll plazas on national highways and national expressways. Its validity lasts for one year or 200 toll crossings, whichever is earlier. This pass eliminates the need for frequent FASTag recharges.
This feature is available to all non-commercial vehicles with valid FASTags. Once the fee is paid through the HighwayYatra app or the NHAI website, the pass is activated on the existing FASTag within two hours.
