Dhan Mandi Bhav: Mixed trends in prices were observed today in major paddy markets across North India. Several markets in Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh saw some gains, while others saw prices fall due to increased arrivals. Today was a day filled with both hope and challenges for both farmers and traders.

Rise in Several Markets in Haryana
Rise in Paddy prices in Haryana’s Palwal, Tohana, Uklana, Samalkha, and Radaur markets. In Palwal, the price of 1509 combine paddy reached ₹2700 per quintal, a significant increase of ₹110. In Radaur, DP paddy was sold at ₹3425 per quintal, the highest level of the day. In Fazilka, 1509 paddy also reached ₹3077 per quintal, which generated enthusiasm among farmers.
In Tohana, the 1509 combine and 1847 varieties saw a rise of ₹50 and ₹30, respectively. In Uklana, the 1509 variety reached ₹2890, a rise of ₹40.
Declining Markets in Uttar Pradesh
Paddy prices declined today in the Etawah, Bharthana, and Jahangirabad markets of Uttar Pradesh. In Bharthana, the 1509 variety fell by ₹50 to ₹2350 per quintal, while in Etawah, it declined by ₹25. In Jahangirabad, 1509 hand paddy fell to ₹2901, and 1509 combine paddy fell to ₹2651, a decline of ₹50 and ₹100, respectively.
According to several traders, increased arrivals in these markets put pressure on prices. In the Jahangirabad market, the Sarbati variety remained stable at ₹2251, but a heavy arrival of 35,000 bags impacted the market.
Mixed Impact in Punjab Markets
The Kotkapura and Tarn Taran markets in Punjab also witnessed fluctuations today. In Kotkapura, the price of 1509 paddy reached ₹3135, an increase of ₹85. In Tarn Taran, the 1509 variety reached ₹3070, a slight decrease of ₹5.
In Fatehabad, the 1509 variety sold for ₹3000, a gain of ₹20. On the other hand, the Rania and Gohana markets saw declines of ₹40 and ₹39, respectively.
Prices Stable in Markets of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh
Prices for various paddy varieties remained nearly stable in Rajasthan’s Bundi market today. The 1718 variety remained at ₹3200, while the 1509 dry paddy sold between ₹2750 and ₹2821. Meanwhile, prices remained unchanged in Dabra and Mangroni in Madhya Pradesh. The 1509 combine sold between ₹2500 and ₹2750 in Dabra and between ₹2400 and ₹2815 in Mangroni.
Both Relief and Concern for Farmers
While improved prices in some markets in Haryana and Punjab boosted farmers’ morale, falling prices disappointed farmers in Uttar Pradesh. Market experts believe that prices may see further fluctuations in the coming weeks, depending on the weather and the pace of government procurement.
