Delhi Metro: Big news is coming for the passengers travelling by Delhi Metro. Thousands of people travel by the Delhi Metro every day. Now in the meantime, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided to increase the ticket fare from August 25. New fare rates took effect on August 25, 2025. This means that travelling by the Delhi Metro will be very difficult for you now. The fare has been increased from 1 to 4 rupees depending on the distance of travel. The minimum fare of the metro has now been increased to Rs 11. With the increase in metro fare, it will start affecting the pockets of the passengers. Earlier, the minimum fare was Rs 10 and the maximum fare was Rs 60.

Passengers who travel long distances by metro daily … will be affected the most. Many passengers travel from Noida to Delhi every day. In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, the DMRC has shared information about the increase in funds.

While sharing the post, DMRC wrote, ‘The passenger fares of the Delhi Metro services have been revised, effective from today, i.e., 25th August 2025 (Monday), onwards.’ The increase is minimal, ranging from ₹ 1 to ₹ 4 only depending on the distance of travel (upto ₹ 5 for the Airport Express Line).

Normal Days Metro Fare

• 0–2 km : ₹10 → ₹11

• 2–5 km : ₹20 → ₹21

• 5–12 km : ₹30 → ₹31

• 12–21 km : ₹40 → ₹42

• 21–32 km : ₹50 → ₹54

• More than 32 km : ₹60 → ₹64

National Holiday & Sunday Fare

• 0–2 km : ₹10 → ₹11

• 2–5 km : ₹10 → ₹11

• 5–12 km: ₹20 → ₹21
• 12–21 km: ₹30 → ₹32
• 21–32 km: ₹40 → ₹43
• More than 32 km: ₹50 → ₹52

According to media reports, even after the fare hike, passengers who use smart cards can get a 10 per cent discount. Apart from this, an additional 10 per cent discount will also be available during off-peak hours—before 8 am, 12 noon to 5 pm and after 9 pm.
