December Deadlines- December, the last month of 2025, is here. This month is crucial for wrapping up several important tasks, like filing advance taxes and linking your Aadhaar with your PAN. If you miss these deadlines, you might run into some issues. Here are four things you need to get done this month…

1. Filing income tax returns to tax auditors

The deadline for taxpayers who are under tax audit to file their income tax returns is December 10, 2025. If you file by this date, your returns will be considered on time, and you won’t face any late fees or penalties.

2. Last chance to pay advance tax

The deadline for paying advance tax is December 15. Anyone whose estimated total tax liability, after accounting for TDS (tax deducted at source), is over Rs 10,000 needs to pay this.

3. Filing Belated Income Tax Return

If you haven’t filed your Income Tax Return (ITR) for the financial year 2024-25 yet, you can still do it by December 31, 2025, but there will be a late fee. If your belated income tax return is for income less than Rs 5 lakh, you’ll need to pay a late fee of Rs 1,000. For income of Rs 5 lakh or more, the late fee will be Rs 5,000.

4. Aadhaar-PAN linking

If you got your Aadhaar card on or before October 1, 2024, you must link it with your PAN by December 31. If you don’t, your PAN will become inactive, which could cause issues with banking, investments, and filing your ITR. You can link them by going to the Income Tax e-filing portal. It’s an easy process – just enter your PAN number, Aadhaar number, and an OTP. You’ll also need to pay a penalty.
