DA Update- Mohan Yadav government of Madhya Pradesh has increased the dearness allowance of seven and a half lakh officers and employees by 5 percent, on the other hand, 4.5 lakh pensioners of the state are still waiting for 5 percent dearness relief.

At present, pensioners under 7th Pay Commission are getting the benefit of 50% dearness allowance, whereas the rate of dearness allowance for central pensioners and pensioners of many states has reached 55%. Madhya Pradesh Third Class Government Employees Union has demanded that retired employees should also be provided 5% dearness allowance from the retrospective date so that they can also get the benefit. Pensioners Welfare Association says that the increase in DR of pensioners and payment of arrears should be done like that of employees. But after the announcement, So many pensioners are not happy.

More than four lakh pensioners of the state are angry with the government. The reason for this is that dearness relief is given two percent less than the dearness allowance of the employees. Ganesh Dutt Joshi, patron of Pensioner Welfare Association, says that when the government is giving dearness allowance to the employees like the central employees, then why are the pensioners being discriminated against.

Dearness relief at the rate of 55 per cent is being given to the pensioners by the Government of India. There is different treatment regarding arrears also. The government has not yet paid the previous arrears nor is any discussion going on about it. Whereas, pensioners are dependent only on pension. They are not getting any facilities like health insurance etc.
