DA Hike: Good news for another state govt employees. Now its turn for Assam’s employees. After the Central Government increased the dearness allowance, now the state governments have also started revising the DA rates. After Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Bihar, Tripura, Karnataka and Rajasthan. Now the Himanta Biswa government of Assam has also given a gift to its 7.38 lakh employees and pensioners.
Assam has also given a gift to its employees and pensioners by increasing the dearness allowance and relief by 3%, after which the DA has increased from 55% to 58%. As the new rates will be implemented from July 2025, the arrears of July, August and September will also be given. The benefit of the increased DA will be given in November along with the salary of October.
Earlier in the month of April, CM Himanta Biswa had decided to increase the rate of DA/DR of state government employees and pensioners from 53% to 55%. These rates were implemented from January 1, 2025. Due to this, the arrears of January-February (January 1 to February 28, 2025) were given in two installments.
In this, the first installment was given with the salary in May and the second in June. The benefit of the increased DA was given in the salary of April. After this, now the DA has been increased by 3% from July 2025. After this increase, the DA of the employees and pensioners of Assam has also become equal to that of the Centre.
What is DA?
Dearness allowance is a payment made by central and state governments to their employees and pensioners to offset the effects of inflation. It is an additional portion of salary that is revised periodically based on the inflation rate, determined according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
