DA Hike 2025: 3 months arrear will be paid, DA may increase 55% before May month?

DA Hike 2025: The Modi government at the Center has increased the dearness allowance of central employees and dearness relief of pensioners by 2% from January 2025, after which DA has become 55%. After the announcement of the Center, the state governments have also started increasing DA, but the government employees and pensioners of Bihar are still waiting.

Earlier there was news that a proposal for DA hike could come up in the cabinet meeting to be held on Friday, 25 April, but this did not happen. Now it is being speculated that before Akshaya Tritiya, the Nitish Kumar government of the state can increase the DA of the employees and pensioners getting the benefit of the 7th Pay Commission by 2% to 55%. The new rates will be applicable from January 2025, in which 3 months’ arrears will also be available. However, official confirmation is yet to be made. 6 lakh employees and 4 lakh pensioners will get the benefit of this.

3 DA was last increased in November 2024

1. In November last year, the Nitish Kumar government had increased the DA of 10 lakh employees and pensioners of the state by 3% from July 2024, after which the DA increased from 50 to 53%.

2. In December 2024, the DA of the 5th Pay Commission employees, pensioners and family pensioners was increased by 12%, after which the DA increased from 243% to 255%.

3. Under the Sixth Pay Commission, employees, pensioners and family pensioners receiving salary and pension were approved to be given 246% DA instead of 239% with effect from July 1, 2024.

Till now these states have increased DA

The central government increased the dearness allowance and relief rates of central employees and pensioners by 2%, after which DA has increased from 53% to 55% from January 2025. After the Center, the governments of Rajasthan, UP, Assam, Gujarat, Haryana and Odisha have also increased the dearness allowance of their employees and pensioners, after which DA has reached 55%.

In this regard, the finance departments of different states have also issued orders. The new rates will be applicable from January 2025, in such a situation, 3 months’ arrears will also be available. The salary of April, which will be received in May, will be given the benefit of increased DA / DR in the salary of employees and pension of pensioners. About 60 lakh employees and pensioners of these 5 states will get the benefit of this.
