Let us tell you that the Bombay High Court said in its decision that these documents do not guarantee the Indian citizenship of any person. The court further said that the Aadhaar card can be used only for identification. After this, it said that a PAN card can be used only for tax purposes. Only tax-related work can be done with it. Whereas a Voter ID card can be used for voting. It shows the right to vote. In such a situation, the Supreme Court made it clear that citizenship cannot be confirmed using Aadhaar.
Which documents are proof of citizenship?
The Supreme Court said that if a person wants to legally prove their citizenship in the country, then they can prove their citizenship through a birth certificate. This document is considered the most important. The birth certificate shows that you were born in India. Apart from this, you can also prove your citizenship with an Indian passport. After this, the court informed that citizenship can also be proved by a citizenship recorded in the government register or birth birth-related entry. Your citizenship is mentioned in government documents. Along with this, citizenship can also be proved by documents related to the citizenship of the parents. On the other hand, if you were born abroad, then you can show the proof of Indian citizenship of your parents.
