Our brave soldiers are not only giving a befitting reply to Pakistan, but are also engaged in eliminating the terrorists waiting to attack stealthily.
But do you know that the government provides financial assistance to the families who have lost their loved ones in terrorist or Naxalite attacks or any kind of riots? The central government has a scheme that extends a helping hand in such difficult times.
The government will give ₹3 lakh to the Victims
The name of this scheme is ‘Central Scheme for Assistance to Civilians Victims of Terrorist, Communal and Naxalite Violence’! Its purpose is to help the families of those who lost their lives in the violence! Under this scheme, which has been running since 2008, if someone dies or becomes completely disabled in a terrorist or Naxalite attack, then their family can apply for this financial help.
This scheme is for everyone! In case of death or more than 50 percent disability, the government helps the family with ₹ 3 lakh. If a Naxal-affected area is in SRE districts, then an additional help of ₹ 1 lakh is also available! This is a great support in difficult times.
Foreigners and NRIs are also eligible
Under this scheme, not only Indian citizens but also foreigners and NRIs are entitled to financial help. The families affected by the attack are also given a health card, through which free treatment can be availed. The victims also get the benefit of the health schemes of the Central Government. Even the children of those killed in the attack continue to get help. There is no limit to income or class for this scheme. This is a commendable step by the government.
Families of terrorists will not get help
However, like other government schemes, it is clearly stated in this scheme that no help will be given to the families of those involved in terrorist attacks and conspiracies. This rule ensures that government assistance reaches the right hands.
Can apply within 3 years of the incident
The victim’s family can fill out the application form and submit it to the DM or state government office within three years of the incident. However, you cannot withdraw this ₹ 3 lakh immediately. The central government will make a fixed deposit (FD) in the bank in the name of the parents, wife or husband, or any family member of the person killed in the attack. The bank will also keep adding interest to it every quarter. After 3 years, the entire amount will be transferred to the family account.
If a close relative of the person killed in the attack is a minor, then this money will be given only when he turns 18. After submitting the form, a committee led by the District Magistrate will examine it. During this, documents like police report, post-mortem report, medical certificate, etc. will be checked. This process ensures that the aid reaches the right victim families.
